The roles below are based in UK so the applicant must have permits to work in UK. We support working from home and flexible working, but some roles may require visits to our UK office in Harwell, Oxfordshire or customers and suppliers’ premises.

Project Manager

We are looking for a project manager with experience in high-tech engineering or defence sector (not necessarily space industry experience) or an ambitious person showing good organisational skills and wishing to evolve from a technical role into a management role.

Tasks: coordinating a team of highly skilled and motivated engineers in delivering satellite systems; project planning, scheduling, milestone management; reporting progress against cost and schedule, both internally and externally; identifying and monitoring risks and preventative measures; supply chain coordination
Skills: able to communicate in effectively and concisely, with verbal and written reports and presentations
Qualifications: ideally with further education technical / engineering practical experience, but not necessarily degree level qualifications

Test and Integration Engineer

We are looking for an ambitious practical engineer wishing to develop a career in space industry, or an experienced space system assembly integration and test engineer
Tasks: responsibility for successful integration of payloads into satellites which are core to Lacuna’s success; oversight of build and test of Lacuna’s proprietary RF and electronic satellite payloads; close collaboration with engineering team to test design improvements; integration, test and verification of payload with various satellites; involves some travel to test sites and satellite suppliers
Skills: ideally some experience of space industry practice, but not essential; must have basic knowledge of RF electronics and/or SDR based payloads, not necessarily to degree level, but vocational training in high-reliability engineering welcome; able to document activities and produce written reports of test outcomes
Qualifications: ideally with further-education vocational technical / engineering practical experience, but not necessarily to degree-level

Applications Engineer / Technical Sales

We are looking for a practical engineer with a broad-range of technical skills, plus the ability to work with external teams of all capability levels. Training and leading by example are an important aspect of this customer-facing role

Tasks: technical sales support within Lacuna sales team, pitching Lacuna technology to prospects; working closely with sales-channel partner teams; produce, document & promote “best practice” solutions (code examples, C++, APIs); train prospects during their initial tests and PoC phase; manage resellers as they deploy pilot trials for their customers in the field; assistance to developer community to get them connected and help solve their problems and issues (via forum, help-desk, slack, email and F2F meetings as needed); close collaboration with internal R&D team, representing “voice of the customer”

Skills: hands-on experience internet-of-things protocols and solutions, ideally using LoRaWAN; experience working with embedded devices and coding using Arduino/ C++; experience working with server-side cloud platforms, including API integrations, Linux, JS; strong and effective communicator at all levels, from technical learners to commercial leaders

Qualifications: further-education / vocational engineering practical experience, with internet of things devices, or a higher electronics degree

Account Executive / Non-technical Sales & Marketing

We are looking for a relationships manager who will be primarily focused on a short-list of channel partners (resellers) requiring strong interpersonal skills, but suited to someone with an ambition to develop their career towards broader sales and marketing activities.

Tasks: maintaining ongoing relationships with partners (solutions) and customers (resellers); track and communicate status, in both directions; CRM owner reporting sales pipeline status, KPIs, metrics; billing reconciliation (with support of internal tools and team); administration of NDAs, quotes, orders, invoices, deliveries; marketing communications

Skills: highly organised individual, able to coordinate others; detail oriented; strong interpersonal & communications skills; familiarity with a broad range of office applications, and ability to learn specific tools used within Lacuna (CRM, wordpress, mailchimp etc)

Software Engineers

We have many roles available but particularly embedded software engineers with C/C++, ideally with IoT experience, and backend engineers with experience in Go. This area is rapidly expanding so please feel free to send us your CV.

Tasks: to further design, develop and test Lacuna’s software-systems either on the backend, on the satellite payloads or on the IoT devices.
Skills: Hands-on experience in programming in C/C++ (for satellite payload and IoT programming) or Go (for backend programming). The ability to take ownership of a development task, and see it through from requirement gathering to design, development, and testing. Ideally, candidates have some experience with/knowledge of aerospace and RF concepts.

Device Certification Engineers

We are looking for an ambitious engineer wishing to take a leading role in a role that is critical to establishing a global business. 
Tasks: Support to Lacuna’s Regulatory Director as we roll-out our services across the globe, certifying to local radio, safety and environmental standards; summarise and present device certification to regional licensing authorities; work with regional licensing authorities to agree experimental test plans and device certification strategies to get permissions to operate in country; overseeing IoT device test and certification in regional test houses
Skills: Ideally hands-on experience in testing/certifying IoT devices or similar radio equipment to radio, safety and environmental standards; any experience of global standards is welcome, but largely the role will involve researching local requirements and developing plans to address requirements; must be able to document test processes and procedures to direct test houses and inform local regulators
Qualifications: practical experience of radio device qualification, i.e. confident with engineering terminology and interpreting specifications and results (not necessarily degree level)
